While we thank you for your support and for taking the time to leave your feedback, I feel the contents of your review are misleading and as such feel that I should offer some context.
We did not get everything 100% right on the initial collection as some crew accidentally did not bring their ID documents to the collection point (in an estate which required identification of contractors), and we had to bring additional crew from another job to assist. As they were attending to other work, it took some time to get to the site and we understand that this caused the job to go well beyond the expected time of completion, a fact for which we apologized.
Another factor which added to the extended collection was that there were 900 cubic feet of items to be loaded which were not included in or communicated on the inventory provided to us when quoting. This was a 36% increase in the volume quoted on.
This is also the reason why we could not accommodate the entire load in 1 trip as you were quoted as part of a shared load, and the remaining space in the truck had already been purchased by other clients. As such, the remaining items (volume not quoted for, were transferred onto the next truck heading to Cape Town, the following week. This was communicated after collection and agreed to.
As a token of good faith for the initial delays caused by our staff forgetting ID's, I did not charge for the additional volume to be transported to Cape Town (Saving of approximately 20k), however communicated that we would have to charge for the trip from the depot to the delivery address in St Helena Bay (2.5 hour drive) and for the shuttle required due to weight restrictions at the estate. This was questioned, but after explanation agreed to. When our truck was on route to the estate from the previous delivery of another client in Hermanus, the payment on this invoice had still not been made, prompting a reminder. At this time, I was told no payment would be made until goods had been unloaded at the delivery address. Our payment terms are for full payment prior to delivery, and yet we delivered again in good faith. Many other companies would have opted to hold the goods and charge storage until payment was received.
On delivery of the first load to St Helena, we were advised that there were protests and road closures in the area the day prior to delivery, and then communication was received that the protest action had cleared up and that we could deliver the following day. When our truck was on route, we were advised that the protests had flared up again. We had to wait for hours in the area before the roads were cleared and the team could gain access. We had also assigned a shuttle which was subject to the same waiting time. Again, there were no charges for the waiting time incurred by us, nor for overtime we had to pay to staff due to delays which we were not responsible for.
The tone of the review implies that we were totally to blame for the issues and overcharged for the work done, when in fact you would have paid in excess of 20-25k if using the service of other companies. As such I do not feel the 2 stars received are a fair reflection of the service we provided.
