Very disappointed with the service received. Steers changed the delivery date twice, forcing me to rush back from holiday to pack up my belongings in 3 hours. They then sent a 3 quarter full truck and since there was not enough space only half of my load was collected. The balance was only collected the following day snd kept in storage. The result was that only half my load was delivered on time and the balance only arrived a week later. I had to take leave again to receive the second load; did not have bedding for a week and my children could not start school as their uniforms and stationary were in storage. Not as much as an apology was offered. The worst new year I ever had as I was stressed out and traumatised.

I was quoted R18,000 for 3cbm - I was unsure about volume measured in cbm, so I called Steers Afrovan to ask - I was told that 3cbm was 3m x 3m x 3m and I based my decision of the amount to take with on this information. It turned out that I had in fact packed 9cbm of goods, where I was under the impression that I had packed less than 3cbm, based on the information received.
With regards to time frames - the main reason I accepted the quote was that I was told it would take 4 to 6 weeks for my goods to arrive at the destination. The goods only left South Africa 7 weeks after they were collected from my home in South Africa. The goods included baby clothing, prams etc, which are needed for the birth of our child. We have now had to buy new baby items as our shipment will not reach us by the time our child is born. Steers Afrovan misled me with regards to the quote which resulted in me accepting it. I am highly disappointed with their service. The communication from Steers Afrovan is also non-existent as I am always the one that needs to follow up and find out what is happening.Read more
