I have never felt compelled to write a review about a company before, but really need to warn consumers about the utterly appalling “service” from [NAme remived by Sirelo] and DLH.
First of all, DLH are not a removal company, they are just a 1 man band intermediary, they use a company called Intertrans, so when something goes wrong, she blames them and they stay silent as they do a lot of business with DLH and don’t want to rock the boat.
A few days prior to the arranged date for collection, I sent a full and final list of items and there were additional items. We agreed that the original items would be loaded first and then assess if any additional space was required – this would be discussed and a cost would be agreed up front and I would pay, before anything else was loaded. DLH do not do a survey of your property in advance and work on an estimation of space – having received their calculations as part of the dispute, DLH massively overestimate the volume of items – but more on that later!
When the driver was supervising the load, he advised that we were well under the allocated space of 1150cft and suggested loading other items that I was going to drive over to CT from Durban. Throughout the day, he reassured us that there was no additional space required and there would be no additional cost.
The inventory was signed by us and the driver, and the truck left. DLHs own contract states that a Jobcard is required to be signed for any additional costs, and this was not done, as we were told there was no need.
The next day, after lunch, I got an invoice from DLH for nearly R10k extra! In addition, they had already offloaded the most expensive items from the truck, put them into storage and left for Cape Town.
Despite agreeing in advance, and it being part of their own contract that additional space would only be used with written confirmation and payment in advance, [Name removed by Sirelo] is both refusing to deliver the items and is trying to charge storage fees. She is now also saying that the driver (who is actually an Operations Manager) was not able to assess the space required – despite that being his job, and ignoring that fact that she was in regular contact with him throughout the day.
After much back and forth, I am getting nowhere, so referring this to the CGSO.
Having been given the breakdown the cft allocated per item, it is 100% clear that DLH deliberately overstate the volume of items, including those of a standard size. Amazingly a 20L jerry can was charged at 53cft and a kids scooter at 50cft – this pattern continued and, after measuring a number of items, I only found 1 that matched the actual size and having checked main items, her “estimate” was nearly 500cft overstated, so well over a R10k rip off!
DLH are the most dishonest company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with and would warn anyone away from ever dealing with them.
Intertrans did a decent job with the removals and delivery, but say their hands are tied… I would suggest going directly with them and avoid DLH like the plague.Read more

7 months earlier, we did the similar removal, all on 1 truck (not shared) in the reverse order and the final quotation was R23500.00 and we had no issues nor any claims.Read more
