On 16 February 2023, I contacted Randburg Movers to hire them to assist with a move to my new home. The move was arranged for 28 February 2023.
On 20 February 2023, and as required by the company, I paid over an amount for 50% of the total costs for the move. After making payment, the company confirmed that the moving crew would arrive at my old home at 09h00 on 28 February 2023. On the morning of the move, I received a message from the company informing me that the moving crew would be a 'little later than 09h00' as they had experience certain delays from a move that had not been completed on the previous day. The moving crew arrived more than 6 hours later at 15h20. The moving crew also arrived with a terrible attitude and they effected the move at a glacial pace even though they were ridiculously late. To make matters worse, the moving truck was not large enough to carry the contents of my apartment. This is despite the fact that I shared a detailed inventory of the items to be moved in advance of the move date. This resulted in the moving truck needing to conduct two moving trips from my old home to my new home. It took the moving crew approximately 3 hours to move the contents of a 1 bedroom apartment.
As mentioned, the moving crew arrived with a terrible attitude. They were stroppy and rude to me at various stages which made the entire experience extremely unpleasant for me.
In addition, the moving crew did not respect my belongings when they were lifting and moving them to and from the moving truck. The moving crew bent my mattress in circumstances where they were informed that it was a 'do not turn' mattress and must not be bent at any stage. The moving crew also placed fragile-marked boxes upside down on my new bedroom floor which caused a bottle of vinegar to spill onto my newly refurbished parquet floor (which is now damaged).
When I asked why they were working so slowly, I was told that they were tired from the move before and that they could not work any quicker. I believe that the level of service I received was sub-standard and disappointing. I feel that I was completely disrespected and I was not treated as a client.
I am extremely unhappy with the level of 'service' I received with the move. I am also sad and disappointed that I decided to use this company for the move. This was an absolute nightmare for me and I would not recommend this company for moving services at any stage in the future.Read more
